Copilot Free is automatically disabled when you have a Copilot Pro or Copilot Pro+ plan, or when you are granted a license through an organization or enterprise. If you want to disable Copilot Free without subscribing to a paid plan, you can do so in your IDE and in GitHub.com.
Disabling Copilot Free in GitHub
You can disable Copilot Free in your GitHub account settings. This will disable all features of Copilot on GitHub.
-
In the upper-right corner of any page, click your profile picture, then click Copilot settings.
-
Under "Visibility," in the "Show Copilot" policy, select Disabled from the dropdown.
If you don't see this option, you may be signed in with an account that has a Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise license. These plans manage Copilot settings at the organization or enterprise level.
